After a suggestion from Polux and a lively debate, it has been decided that we will give this a go. A Photography contest. Why? because it's fun. What do we get out of it? Hopefully loads of good photos. What can we win? At present nothing more than a round of applause.

Intro over down to the case at hand;

How it works:

1). A member can post no more that two photographs of the same model, or models in the case of a diorama. (One could be a presentation shot, the other an artistic for example).

Members may post multiple entries, but they must be in a separate post and no more than one entry for each genre. (as defined in the forums build sections).

One photo per post, otherwise we cant vote on just one picture... ;)

You may post more than once under each genre as long as they are different models :smiling3:

2). To simplify things SHORT discussions on the photographs can be entered in the Original Chat thread. Comments along the lines of "Nice one"- "Oh! thats good!" Or "I like that" will be removed and repeat offenders will get a slapped wrist! (privately naturally).

3). To cast your vote for a photograph, simply press the thumbs up (Like) icon. AND ONLY that one. (As being the one that will have to tally up, it is a LOT easier, if an entry has 10 likes, and NOT 6 likes, 2 great builds an optimistic and a funny. It will be counted as 6 likes).

And remember its the Photograph and not the model you are voting on!

4). The thread will be closed for further posts "at the end of the year" to allow the result to be found and the results posted before the end of the year.

Please post your entries in this thread and try to include info on how the photo was taken. Type of camera, objective etc. This is not essential but helpful to others.

Please read the four simple points again before you post your pictures.

I hope that there are many entries and I look forward to seeing them.

GENRE: (DIORAMA) 14TH CENTURY LOOKOUT/SIGNAL TOWER.

Photograph taken in daylight against a back drop of sky.

Camera: FUJI-FINEPIX S5500.

Macro enabled although distance from object is 12 inches away, camera was angled to get the cloud wisps around the top.

Setting used was auto using a fuji-chrome film setting, was trying for a more softer look.

Picture has no enhancement via software apart from just cropping.

Si I think these should be on two seperate posts so that they can be voted for individually

GENRE: (SHIPS) 1/570 CONVERTED QUEEN MARY LINER-'RUSTY LINER'.

Photograph taken in bright sunshine, sun position is to right of picture (as looked at) and a bright blue sky.

Camera: FUJI-FINEPIX S5500.

Macro enabled although again distance was around 8 to 10 inches from object.

Setting used was auto using auto selected film setting.

Look was to achieve the sun coming from behind the model, highlighting the rear edges of the funnels and bow-leaving the ship in shadow; also the shadow produced by the model split the water effects to create a more dimensional shot.

Picture has no enhancement via software apart from just cropping.
