Someone once said that if it did not have a big round engine and was not a biplane, then it was not worth making, well they had a point as the Stearman PT-17 just oozes character, known as the PT-13,PT-17 Kaydet in U.S.Army service where my father learned to fly on these machines, the Stearman range just ask to be made up as models.

Various plans and kits have appeared over the years and the latest offering is from Flair who have a very nice kit available, the old Sterling example can still be found if you are lucky, having flown this one I would say that she is suitable for pilots with a bit of time under their belts as she is like all Stearmans heavy laterally and needs to be flown all of the way around the circuit, like all good trainers she is forgiving but will bite the unwary or foolhardy.

Construction needs care and attention and you need also to be a builder to enjoy what this model offers, but the end product is a fine vintage biplane which will give hours of enjoyment in terms of flying.
