Made up some of the Flightpath Winch but decided the hook was far too large so stuck with the kit winch.

I thank I am just about ready to paint now; a few shots below of the final dry assembly of the main and tail rotors. Will sleep on it tonight, in case I

think of something I may have missed, and give the seams a final check with a fresh eye as it were.

Hi Derek, I'll be watching this closely as I want to do the exact same one as you, my brother in law was air-lifted to safety by this aircraft and I've promised him a model. M
Never been in a Sea King, but flown in plenty of its original Sikorsky s-61 config. including the Heathrow/Gatwick link in the early 1980's. This latter link was closed when the M25 opened. Derek

Thanks for your continued support Joe, much appreciated.

This will be the last posting under this forum; will post the final finished photos in a few days once I have the decals on and the other small bits and pieces fitted and painted.

I used my usual Tamiya Aerosol light gray primer, but if I were doing this kit again, I think I would use the white primer. The yellow I used was Lifecolor UA 140 (FS33538) RLM04. For the rotors, the kit specifies flat black, but I used Lifecolor UA 109; extra dark sea grey (FS 16099).

Hi Derek, four of the five main rotor blades are painted matt black on the upper surface and from memory so are the undersides though they may be a dark green. The single yellow rotor is prototypical for all SAR cabs on 22/202/203 sqn and even on some 72 sqn camouflaged Wessex. The tail rotors are gloss black with red/white/red tip flashes and they might even have polished steel tip end caps but I confess I may be confusing this with Puma rotors. What is unforgettable is that grease from the spindles would leach out along the leading edge of the blades after a lube, usually because some gash ba$tard couldn't be bothered to wipe away the excess grease.

Thanks lads; a word of caution for those building this kit, the decals are fairly thick and you have to trim the excess on some of them to fit, they respond quite well the micro set/sol. When you apply the sol some of them wrinkle, but don't touch them, they will be o.k. when dry. I gave up using the tail rotor decals and painted them myself.

Still a lot of painting to do and bits to add. Cheers Derek
