So this one is finally complete. There is a build thread here with a bit more information.

(1) 1/32 Revell Bf 109 G-6 | Scale Models Forums (scale-models.co.uk)

There are better kits on the market, but not for twenty-five quid, and I think this one makes a more than acceptable version of what is perhaps one of the most iconic aeroplanes of WW2.

This is a virtual 'fly around' as I have posed the model in flight. Though I did not use most of the undercarriage I did take a look at it and it is not bad at all.

That's a really nice clean build. I like the flying "pose" too. Kudos.

Nice job, Steve. I rarely do a flying pose as it requires a pilot and figure painting is not one of my talents. A poorly painted pilot has such a detrimental impact. Many aircraft look much more graceful with the cart up, the Bf-109 one of them. Leaving off the prop blades also adds to the realism of the pose.

Great finish. The 'spinner' is unbelievably neat! Well done.

Hi Steve
I like that :thumb2: Excellent paintjob. Is the spiral on the prop cone painted or a fancy decal?

Glad you all like it!

Jim the spinner is painted. I reverse masked it, that is, I painted the whole thing white (after filling the holes for the propeller blades), masked it and painted the black. The mask was from the Montex set which I used for the national and other markings.

The spiral was explicitly a tactical marking to help identify friendly aircraft, just like the bands in front of the tail (which also identified the unit). It was not to warn ground crew or put off American gunners, whatever you may have read elsewhere. That's another reason I went with the regulation black/white rather than the fancy green in the instructions.

Superb build Steve. You are right, it is a decent kit for the money.

Very nice Steve. I've never been a fan of the 109 because of its awkward landing gear. However, stick it up in the air, and it looks a different beast, one I could learn to like.
