Revell Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk 1/72

Got this in Modelzone for £3.75, down from £12.99. I hadn't planned to join the heli Gb, but I couldn't resist. The two sprues look quite crisply moulded, so I'm hoping for an easy build. Two alternatives, including a black hawk version, which is tempting.

I haven't done a chopper since I was little - it was a Huey Cobra, I remember. So I will probably be asking a few questions.

In MZ they also had the 1/32 Lynx - too big for me though.

Thats a bargain Tony, there looks to be decent detail in it too....

1/72 was a little too small for me, shame though as they had a huge selection at that scale at my LMS

I've made some progress; got the interior done

There are lots of reference photos on the web, which show the IP to be a sea of silver knobs and switches. So I didn't use the decals in the kit and dry-brushed instead. I tried a metallic green marker pen for the display screens.

Fuselage went together quite well, with some add-on bits attached as well.

All in all it fits together nicely, and I'm hoping for a minimum of filling and sanding.

I'm doing the Austrian Air Force S-70 variant (I chickened out of the three colour camo of the USAF HH60), but the glaring omission in the kit is the radome on the nose. There are photos online of the actual aircraft, which helps. I think I've figured out how to do the dome.

You got that sorted quite quick.

A bit of progress here. One major omission from the kit is the radome on the nose. The vent-like bits on the rear fuselage are also absent.

I scratched my head a bit, then hit upon cutting the rounded end off of a used glowstick. A bit of sprue works well as a mounting spigot.

A bit of filler and it should look OK when painted - I hope. Maybe it's a touch big, but it's the nearest I could come up with.
