The second and final aircraft arrived today, the F-14A Tomcat, so I am posting the two 1/72 models I am going to do for this S.I.G.

Here's a confession for you. This is the first time in my life I have bought a modern jet fighter kit in any scale, so it will be a brand new experience for me. Just as well as it only cost £3.70, all in!!.... I chose the Dauntless 'cos it has pretty colours!

One other point, what is the difference between a SIG and what we are doing in the G.B.s?

Here are the two aircraft....

Cheers,

Ron

Nice birds Ron. I am sure that you can call out for a bit of help with the jet if you need it.

Whats the difference between an SIG and a GB? Well not a lot really only in my view an SIG is a bit more focused on a single theme. How ever to try and get more to join in its a bit more open this time. The special interest bit could be that it's aircraft...or it could be that it was aimed at picking a single squadron that interests you. This was later expanded a bit to include an airbase or aircraft carrier.

Glad that you have found a subject and are joining in. Remember research all you like but no building until the first of march!!!

Ian M

PS. Ron I have moved your thread into the SIG then and now aircraft thread.

Thanks for the info. Ian.

I must confess I've been having a look at the Tomcat and getting itchy fingers, but yes you have my word no building until March !st

A few more having a go would be nice too, early days yet though....

Sorry Ian, no building today 'cos it's my special day.

Itchy fingers? Some are around my next ice and a slice....The other set of digits are trying (with a bit of difficulty now) to co-ordinate the bottle opener to meet the bottle top on a very nice looking Hobgoblin.

The sun is still beaming down from a cloudless sky, all is good.

Have a nice day.....

I will post something with a bit more sense tomorrow if I may.

So what sort of special day is it then Ron? Not a birthday by some coincidence?

O.K., back to normal today (almost)

Ian, I have another project on the go at the minute, so for a short time I am keeping the lid on my S.I.G. entry. We have been given 6 months to complete it, so bags of time.

In the mean time I will be following all the others who are doing this build.

Dave, it sure is (was)...And you too!

Cheers,

Ron

If you want a bit of enthusiasm and inspiration for a jet kit then just watch Top Gun. Awful story line and I can't stand Tom Cruise but some briliant fighter jet arial sequences.
