Sort of like a pre-historic StuG.......Hey Bob, have you got one of these??? I think they pre-date the 0 series Prototypes you been going on about. Just think Tim...you have a blank check on this one, you can engineer it together any way you want and it will be accurate! Must be frustratin' for the rivet counters! :tongue-out3: :flushed:;) Rick H.

Exactly what I thought Rick....there are at least six ways of doing this, I also like the grey gun on the green UE, rather than the all over grey of the box art....plenty of scope here. This has got to be a prototype Marder though, not a stug :tongue-out3: After all, a Stug is a good gun on an obsolete chassis, while this is an obsolete gun on an obsolete chassis!

Really pleased with these pictures Steve. I had only found three pictures and you’ve found many more, including two shots of the same vehicle from front and back! The third shot and the last shot look like the more permanent mounting of the 37mm without wheels....

Hi all
Small update, I’ve found some time to progress the out of the box one of the pair, so here are some images....

Three shots of the UE. The track units come off for painting. It is really tiny, that is about thirteen pieces, and four of those were the box on the back. Surface detail is excellent, and fit was top drawer....

mind you, it is tiny.....

I think it’s in danger of being eaten whole by the carpet monster.....and an unwary sneeze could cause untold misery :tongue-out3:

For those that don’t use Vallejo, here is one next to a Bren carrier of the same scale.....

Lastly, here are the gun parts cleaned up and waiting for assembly....

Once they are assembled it will be put aside to await paint while the modified one is worked up.....

Hope you like it..
Cheers
Tim

Hi all. I have managed a little more on these....

Firstly the OOB.
B17AB3A3-129D-411F-9BD6-916C198C5ED1.jpeg
711F49FA-493B-4C05-902D-3EBDAEC2A61F.jpegThis is now complete and awaiting primer. The the tracks and gun still come off for painting. As you can see, it makes a nicely detailed kit, easily good enough for gaming.

Here is the modified one......
I’m aiming for this one from Steve’s pictures...give or take a little license..

So far I’ve got to here.
5D829E7A-2202-4F45-8D64-0E65B33FA6D7.jpeg
I’ve opened up the drivers side because most of these Portee types seem to have the dome removed so the crew could get in and out....
The driver is a modified Skdfz 250 driver from PSC. He’s basically legless and armless to get him in......
I’ve thinned the front and side edges to get them closer to scale...just about visible here.
E60675C9-65F6-4956-B029-E84A4C6B4F68.jpeg
I’ve also added the French lights and rear light and blind as they are still fitted in the prototype image.
A989076B-287C-4364-B170-DA2C1A3AD350.jpeg
Added a mounting plate (the white thing) to each track unit.....l
A0A56881-8110-46EE-B455-8326F2203E4A.jpeg
Done some work on the exhaust ...the kit part is a solid box, but the photo shows a cover over a muffler....still got to drill and add the pipes when it’s dry....
B93191BE-A5C0-4F46-B0C6-1914EC00D97B.jpeg
Wheel unit for the gun. Other parts are in the process of being cleaned, though I’ve drilled out the gun barrel....

I‘ll post another update as I get further along....hope it’s OK...

Looks good from here......tricky business getting the drill centered on something that small, but it adds so much, instead of just painting the tip of the muzzle black and hope it looks ok. I couldn't help noticing the Bren carrier you posted up earlier......the detail painting on the crew is extremely life like. Well done Tim. Rick H.

Cheers Rick. The Bren carrier was great fun, I thought the crew came out pretty good as well.
Drilling the barrel wasn’t too bad, drill size 0.5mm......I only ever drill plastic by hand with a pin chuck.
The secret to centering the drill is use a sharp scriber to push in a small pilot hole first. Then when you start drilling, check the drill dimple is central and incline it a little to drift the hole back to the middle if it isn’t. Plain sailing after that....

Just had a catch upon this Tim- my that is small!
Looks great though and a nice interesting little off-the-beaten-track subject.
Like the Bren Carrier too
