Awesome I have the Special Edition of this kit with the "Tigermeet" decals for Sheridan's Starfury. Back in the 90s I built Ivanova's Starfury but to be honest made a bit of a mess of it.

Will you be fixing the guns on this one?

Scott, I know next to now't about things 'Up there', but I do know a great diorama in the making and this one fits the bill just nicely.

As I have never built Sci. Fi. or anything spacewise before, I might yet muck in and have a go. Whether I do or not I will be following the builds...

Good luck with this one mate,

Cheers,

Ron

Hi Andrew yep the guns will be drilled out and fixed and i will have to scratch build the cobra bay as well..... it's never easy.

Well if you read the "authoritative" articles about the Starfury on Starship Modeller etc, they say the Presidential Escort is the wrong colour, the Sea Witch isn't very good as its not sexy enough plus the drop shadow for the text looks wrong, so I'd say its down to Ivanova or Psi Corp. The Psi Corp one is supposed to be a sort of black (they are the psionic "bad guy/nazis" after all :smiling3: )

I built my old one as Ivanova's but didn't make a great job of it first time round:

You can see the bad silvering on decals as I hadn't worked out back then that you couldn't put decals onto a matt surface!

My vote goes to the PSi one as well. Why are space craft predominantly white? Lets have a black one!!!

Psi corps star fury pics

Ok folks so here is my progress so far, i had a little problem withe the black omega decal so i had to make a template and paint it in. Unfortunately it is a little squint and needs a bit of touching up, so i hope you like it and as usual all comments are welcome be they good or bad. I now have to try to scratch build part of the cobra bay.

hey scott. looking great so far. i never saw the show, but that's a sweet ship and you did/are doing a great job on it. i'm sure you know how to get around fixing up any painting/decal issues on space vehicles like this... battle damage!!

Good luck with the bay build! How did you find the construction? I can barely remember the build on mine back in the 90s and from what I've been reading on other site, its a bit of a bugger to get together and the decals are a nightmare, which seems to match up with your experience!

I've been searching for the resin gun replacements but there are none to be had, however I did find a discretion of how to use brass tubing to scratch build a replacement, and the brass tubes arrived yesterday, very cheap off eBay, and were put to use almost immediately in my current SEAC Spitfire mk VIII build!

I have to say the build itself went well hardly any filling needed at all, as for the guns in you cut off the end part on the barrel and taper the little bit thats left with some sand paper then fill the grooves it is as close as damn. I tried to get the resin guns as well but they are non existent, I have got the one you have coming in the post and iam bidding on another one too. As they are rare i intend to try to get a few to keep in my stash.... you never know when they will dry up and become non existent.
