A‘noon gents,
Not much bench time over the week and what time I did have was spent re-doing the PE on the tranny and trying to figure out how to scratch build the lip on the rear that the access hatch would bolt onto.

Cut out a couple of large rings from plastic card to give a washer shape then punched out some 2mm discs and punched a 1.1mm hole in the centres.

Punching semi-circles into the large washer shape allowed me to install the smaller rings into place. Had to cut a very thin ring to insert into the rear plate to tidy it up as my cutting was a bit wonky:upside:

Next job is to work out where the fuel tanks go in the engine compartment and look into painting the engine/transmission.
Thanks for looking in :smiling4:

I never managed to consistently punch centre holes in discs, so hats off to you for managing it :smiling3:

ill admit that this wasn’t my first or second attempt to get it looking reasonable! Let’s just say I’ve got a lot of odd looking rings and circles in the spares box now :smiling5:

Hi Mr. Benson,

Some good progress here my friend and love the etch work. A shame that most of the motor is hidden inside. Some paint will make it stand out I'm sure.

I can't believe you buried the cool snow blower inside too!!! I was really hoping you would model it as it should be,

Ok, it doesn't have to be yellow and you would have to scratch the plow looking feeder to it, but hey, it's your model Buddy!

Drive on Si....This will be a good 'un!!!

Prost

Hey buddy,
Now that would be a nice interesting build!

I’m not bothered that most will be hidden, I just enjoy the building stage, and always take pics of the interior being built.

looking fwd to painting up the engine, I got some nice references to Work from:smiling4:

Evening gents,
Not much bench time this week but managed a bit of etch work this morning.

Two of the external equipment boxes, the shovel and the saw.

also managed to begin assembling the tracks. They are in sections for easy painting and I’ll join them up and position the front tensionera to suit once painting is underway. Seems a long way off at the moment!

Hope to show more progress with the next update. The bench is a little busy as I’m finishing off a Pz IV shelf queen from way back when as well.

Nice work on the PE and tracks. You have a busy bench there. Any more than two builds at a time and I'm screwed. Keep up the good work my friend

Cheers Jim,
It was fiddly to punch the holes but came good eventually :smiling4:

Evening all,
Work has continued.....slowly!!
The etch set included ice cleats, 11 pieces of etch per cleat and 15 cleats to make

Even with the magnifying lamp....I could barely see what I was doing! But ended up getting them done and gave them a coat of Mr primer and a base coat of red/brown mix....I’ll let that dry and do the other side.

meanwhile the engine/transmission got a base coat of AK extreme metal aluminium.

Gave it a dark brown enamel wash, then picked out some bits to colour in :nerd:

Plenty to be getting on with ....might get an hour at the bench before bake off tonight.
Thanks for looking in :smiling4:

Evening to anyone still awake,
Tiny update on the engine, added the high pressure fuel lines with copper wire then painted green, which will be weathered in later...
17C353FA-63CB-44BF-B829-3EDEFBAB2393.jpeg

Still have air filters and exhausts to jam into the boot space, which I’ve been painting up individually.
Not quite ready to commit to glue yet until I’m happy with how it all fits.
