Hi si

Looking good so far! Keep up the good work!

ATB

Andrew
Cheers Andrew :smiling4:
It's a 7 from me Si.
Glad your not expecting this level of work from me, I'm relying upon the diorama to bewilder most viewers into not looking at the tank .
Thanks very much comrade Race. Look forward to see your Tiggy in its dio :smiling4:

Oh yes, the fun stage is nearing now. Nice scratcherizing mate!

Cheers
cheers Wouter....I really enjoyed making all them bits up. I’m no Mr T or Scottie or Mr Jones to name but a few, so maybe not perfect, but certainly better than nothing.

Hi Si
The more you look at references the more you see that you could add. Difficult to know when to stop. You have taken this Tiger to another level. Looking forward to the paint which will really show off the extra detail.
Jim
As I went though my refs, I did sigh and tut a lot Jim. Those germans certainly liked clipping and Clamping stuff onto a tank!
So lovely work bring on the paint.
Nearly sir :smiling4:

HI Si im not into armour much but I like lookin at your guys threads an your builds to me what you are doin is that extra effort for detailing an I take my hat off to you very well done an im like the others cant wait to see it being painted :thumb2:
chris
Cheers Chris,
Thats one good thing about this forum is you get the opportunity to see such a great variety of model making. I’m glad your enjoying it :thumb2:

Sorry mate. Didn't realise you had done a weekend update. It's very satisfying when you get all the details done correctly. All you have to worry about now is that it stays stuck on during the paint process LOL
Cheers mate,
I am pretty chuffed with myself for having a go. Like I said to Wouter, it may not be perfect but it’s better than nothing:smiling4:
Up to your usually first class work Si, :thumb2:
Thanks Bob, I really must catch up with all the other builds on the GB, yours included!

Been away for a week Si but just catching up now. Stunning mate. Simply stunning
Cheers Al, very nice of you to say mate :smiling4:

Thanks very much for all the positive feedback. It’s really helped me from stalling and pushed me on :thumb2:

Late Night update again. FinIshed off adding the last of the details. Gave it a quick clean down and then a squirt of Mr Primer surfacer 1000, thinned with MLT.

And i dont think I’ve knocked anything off :nerd:

So I’ll let that dry out and in the meantime, I’ll finish off my Tiger I build and get it primed. Hopefully I Can do the colouring in at the same time.

Thanks for looking in gents :thumb2:

progress on the paint front. as I have the tracks painted with the new Tamiya colour lacquer paint. Coverage is good and the finish finish seems ok but the paint combined with their lacquer thinner don’t ‘arf humm :dizzy:

Painting is so easy when they are assembled like this.

And then wheels .....many, many, many wheels :smiling5:
Again I used The new Tamiya paint, Its called dark yellow LP55 and has a similar colour to XF-60 but claims to have a more resilient finish according to the website.
It went on really nicely and I think it has a higher sheen than XF paint.

Getting there slowly and I’m close to being able to assemble the running gear permanently.

More soon
cheers

Looking good Si, I'll take your word on the new paint. Is the sheen going to be a problem or will you dull coat after decals? If it's a smooth finish you may not need to clear gloss, thus eliminating a step.
Cheers, Rick H.

Cheers Rick,
Ive had a look at the paint again this morning and it’s certainly not a gloss finish, but doesn’t seem as matt as XF paint can be, so somewhere in between the two. Looks and feels lovely and smooth though So don’t foresee an issue.

Nice to see the new paint has worked well for you. Will you be doing a camo pattern or going straight into weathering?

Hi Steve,

Think I’ll be going with this cammo pattern as illustrated in this colour profile found in Mig Ammo’s Tiger II visual modellers guide book thingy.....

The vehicle that I’m basing mine on looks to be pretty filthy so may not see too of the scheme once I’m into
weathering

Looks like a hard edge scheme on the barrel and mantle and fuzzy on the rest of the tank. Lovely coloration and streaking though.
Cheers, Rick H.

Afternoon,

squirted some paint behind the tracks and then wheels glued on. The tracks had a bit of a spring in them so had to be held in place with wooden wedges and some hefty metal weights.

Looking good mate.
Cheers Scottie :thumb2:

I’ve had to wait for the right Opportunity to get on with the paint. Got right into it over the last two evening.

Thats the entire Tig 2 base coated. I won’t have the opportunity to paint again until next week so this is gonna be slooooooow :tired:

Decided to make the most of the it and got Tig I primed and the the wheels primed and base coated. ive done a whole jar on that lot so far and Tig one needs a coat too!
