Here is the finished Starter Kit for this G.B.
Thanks to Peter and Pete for organizing and running it.
My thoughts about this model....

A superb little kit. Ideal for anyone, let alone a first timer!

Both the fit and detail are first class.

The decals went on like a dream. They couldn't have been better, following the contours really well. There was silvering but that sort of came with the rules!

Using the supplied naff brush, the paints covered surprisingly well with no runs or ridges. and dried to a very nice smooth surface. They were thick in the pots, but once thinned they went on with no trouble - Despite the awful brush.

The glue. To be perfectly truthful I preferred it to Revell Contacta. No tube blockages, better and quicker adhesion, screw top, and using a cocktail stick I had far better control over the amount coming out of the business end! - And I've got tubes of the stuff too..... :thumb2:

In conclusion, this kit comes well recommended and considering the limitations for the G.B. I'm happy with the result. Top marks to Airfix!

....best fun and modelling enjoyment I've had in a while, and all for under a fiver!

Here are the pictures. As I wrote above I had little control of the silvering. No antenna wire in the kit and it's not weathered. As it's a starter kit, I've presumed the builder would not know of such nonsense...... :upside:

Thanks Pete.
I was lucky. There was no red paint in the kit, but the M.G. port patches were indeed decals. I let them dry then pierced the eight holes with a needle.
The decals were first class and even included the black wing walk thingies.

"I tell you, hell and damnation will be upon you, sinner! Temp ye not the dark side to be your companion. Resist, fight back and keep your paints thin right to the end."
On the other hand, didn't someone say "Repent, and thin no more!?

Hi Ron
Fantastic result.
These starter kits by Airfix seem to be a mixed lot - some great, some hopeless. Your Hurricane and my Vampire seem to be a couple of the great offerings.

Very nice Ron. When young during the war I used to see the Hurrican
plenty of times ranging over us.

Most of our playtime at school was spent running around the playground,
a whole host of us, arms out you were either Hurri. or Spit. 109 never got
a look in.
