I use the old plastic box and pipe insulation, even for big models like this 1/32 scale Bf 110.

In 1/72nd you can be more creative. This is the broken drill bit through the propeller hole method.

That's a 1:72 P12 sat on the wing. At the moment, It hangs up in my garage. It's about 27 inches long, and 37 inches wide.

And that's the Airfix 1:72 Vulcan underneath it. But, there is about 30cm vertical separation to take into account.
