I have found rivets Neil :thumb2:  I can smell them a mile off. Problem is they are on the cannon
I was very pleased with the sculpt Peter. Have you painted this size before??
Always been a fan of the old guard Tim. I like the moustaches and sideburns. Would the artillery guys have had the famous gold earring like the infantry did??
Mine will be like kindergarten kids so you will be in good company Bob :smiling5:

To be honest Steve I don’t know about the earring....but I’d be quite impressed if you could paint it for your first effort at this scale

Nice one Steve

I have a couple of boxes of theirs bought some time ago with the intention of doing a wall breach dio after reading Sharpe - never happened of course and probably never will but it is good to dream :smiling4:

They are nicely done but seem expensive when bought as full boxes so you did well buying as a part set.

Hi Steve
Answers as follows......
Metal bits on the guns (and on the buckets) will be painted black.
The emblem on the barrel is cast in with the barrel, so will be brass, the same as the rest of the barrel.
Sword handle will be brass.
Ropey stuff (sword knot  ) will be facings red.
The guy is carrying a powder scoop and the end will be wood so it doesn’t spark in use....his bucket is a powder bucket, not a water bucket.
There are loads of images out there Steve, just search “old guard foot artillery images” or similar.....

Good start by the way, Black undercoat isn’t my personal technique, but many people get great results with it....might need several top coats to get good coverage. Don’t be afraid to reblock the Black outlining as you go along either, it makes the final paint job pop nicely....

Fine work Steve. Looking very good indeed.

Just a thought, but it might be easier to build up the uniform colours from darkest to lightest. I always find it much harder to put the shadows in last.
