Marcus Nichols of Tamiya Model Magazine has said on Facebook that Tamiya will have a major announcement this week. Speculation has taken off.

My guess a 1/32 P47 or bf109.

My hope is any new aircraft kit in 1/32 scale.

We shall see

Maybe Tamiya are going to announce a major event -updating their website!
For a major player, their internet presence is pretty poor - possibly the worst of the big manufacturers! I would have thought the Shizuoka model show in May would have been the venue for announcng new products.....

Could be Alan. A bit disappointing if so.

I know Barry. Their seems to be big speculation about a 109 too. But either way i feel that the 1/32 scene is crying out for a new P-38 or P-47 kit. Although i'd love them to do the Fw190 A/D series too.

Edited because i called Barry, Berry. This heat is playing havoc with my dyslexia. Sorry Barry!

All I can find is that it will be announced on the 25th, and that it is a 1/48 aircraft. The teasing pictures seem to show that it is not a modern jet - but that's about it - I'd second Al, by saying a P-38..............

It is a P-38. I matched the parts to my existing Academy P-38. One of the pics shows the back wing elevator with the spot to stick the watchamacallit balance thing with a teardrop head. The other pic is the right wing near the flap.

Cheers,
Richard

I was hoping Barry that it would be an extension to their Tamiya XF range.

Pathetic choice compared to other manufacturers but I do like the paints.
Which of course take more time as I am forced to mix.

Totally with you on that one Laurie. I love spraying their paints but their colour range is almost useless for the main subjects i build, Luftwaffe aircraft. I know they have a massive catalogue of hobbies to try and cater for but you'd think they'd update their paints more.

Tim can you use X-20A thinner with Mr. Colour range?

Don’t see why not, but I can’t say for sure as I use Mr color levelling thinner with both Mister color and Tamiya....

It won’t be a Flying Pencil but I would love this announcement to be a 1/32 Do17z. Another 109 we can do without, and we have acceptable representatives of most other aircraft. I know Revell are the most likely candidates to model this particular bomber, completing the Blitz bombing trio, but for me personally this is the only major omission in the 1/32 aircraft catalogue.
Fun to speculate though :smiling3:
