Over the last week I have made a start on the LRDG vehicles to give me an idea on how I want the dio layout to look. I am going to add a couple of German vehicles to the mix as I want it to look like there has been a bit of a fire fight at an out post. As yet I am unsure which way I prefer the buildings (seperate or joined). Does anyone have any thoughts on this? View attachment 104694

My thoughts are this on either of the layouts I want a German truck parked behind one of the buildings with maybe a Kubelwagen out front. with both either having or had there insignis removed or about to be destroyed by the LRDG patrol.

Those buildings looks really good!!

My vote is separate... Anyway could be nice to add something to unit them...

I think the buildings must be the protagonists, maybe is not usual...because most of us add these or other items to accompany the vehicles

Excellent dio so far :smiling3:

Terry, how about keeping the main buildings apart, but join them with a simple arch / vehicle wide alley way, and have the flat roof going across to the tower as a sort of balcony complete with a concrete upstand around it? You could then put a doorway into the first floor of the tower.

Ron I see what your saying mate but the panels that make up the buildings are very unforgiving when trying to remove parts and break really easily. I have come up with a plan not to dissimilar to your idea and am going to have a play tonight.

I have been getting on with the vehicles in between sorting family stuff out this week. I am reasonably happy with the paint job on all three and just need to fade them down a bit. I have two more vehicle to do once these are finished one s a tamiya Kubelwagen and a revell V300s German truck. I am not going to do a sprue shot of the Kubelwagen but will do one of the other. Here are the jeeps and LRDG truck in there paint schemes.

Not had much time to participate on here over the last month due to family matters. That said I have found time to do a bit to the vehicles for this dio. I didn't like the the get unstuck mats that came with the truck kit so made some using foil and Styrene strips. I think they came out really well so made some for both of the jeeps. The stowage basket on the jeep is scratch built as well using Styrene rod and some mesh left over from another recent build.

The camo nets are made from bandages and painted. As always comments are welcome
