Hi all this is my attempt at recreation the sinking of the Arandora star, she was built in cammell lairds for the blue star line in the 1920s, on july 2nd 1940 she left Liverpool unescorted under the command of captain Edgar Wallace Moulton bound for the internment camps in newfoundland Canada. She had nearly 1200 axis internees and 374 british men including military guards and crew, at 06:58 am off the northwest coast of Ireland she was struck with a single torpedo from U 47 commanded by Gunther prien, 35 mins after being struck she sunk with 800 lives on board. The bow of the arandora star was carved out of 50mm thick insulating foam, so I hope you like it and as usual any and all feed back is most welcome good or bad. The u boat is 1/350 offering from Revell.

Another very dramatic sea scene Scott. It looks great, the sinking Arandora is very effective with that escaping smoke. Great to hear the details behind the diorama story too.

cheers dude this was a tragic loss and to read about the heroism from both the crew and prisoners makes me proud to be a human being.

Thank you very much for the kind comments, this diorama was given away to some of the people who came to the exhibition.

Hi Scott, nice work there. I've read descriptions of the Andorra Star sinking and some of the survivor accounts, you've captured the moment incredibly well.
