Some top painting , Jason!
The cuff title is outstanding!
And the goggles are excellent too- although I don't understand why in this day and age manufacturers can't include clear resin inserts or goggles at these large scales - there's an aftermarket idea for somebody?

Great work Jason. really finely done.

Re: the goggles. It's something I've tried doing myself, but I've never been able to cut the inserts accurately enough, though I suspect that the 'done thing' among elite bust painters is to paint on the reflections as with the vogue for non-metallic metallics.

Thanks all... glad to see you approve...
To be honest I’ve had this kit for a while and it was the goggle’s which put me off making a start as they are so prominent and would stand out if they didn’t look right... I did them fairly early on as I felt they were the make or break as to whether or not this ever got finished...
so far I’m fairly happy with it although I’m now starting to worry about the cupola as armour isn’t really my thing.
Thanks again
Jason

Just popped in to see how it's going Jason and I am staggered by the attention to detail on this bust. You have done well to bring the black uniform to life. The cuff work is wonderful. Keep up the good work

Great work Jason

After the cuff title and the goggles, the cupola will be a walk in the park,

Super painting

Many thanks Steve J and Steve H...
Just reporting a bit of progress on the cupola and raising a couple of questions ( as I said armours not really my thing!)
1... in terms of chipping, would that largely be the base colour..ie the desert yellow where the camo has worn off?
2. What colour would the interior of the tank be?
Thus far just sprayed the main colours applied some staining with oil paint and a bit of metal wear with a graphite pencil....

The cupola lid (sorry I don’t know the correct term) is just resting in place for now....
Thanks again
Jason

That is a beautiful paint job Jason. Can't help with the chipping etc questions, but it looks great so far.

Looking really good Jason, internals would be "ivory" top half Vallejo 71.075 Ivory , chipping, well depending on how deep the chips go , even down to the red oxide.

If it were me then the green and red brown would be chipped to the yellow colour. The yellow colour chipped to the red oxide as JR says.

However it depends on how extreme you want the look to be. You may just want to leave it as is and just dirty it up a bit

Thanks all...much appreciated and very helpful as well...
Still a bit more detailing to do but here is the cupola at close of play today...11EBCFE0-737E-4000-86A9-8E4BC34415D8.jpeg

I think I may have mentioned earlier in the thread that the figure is leaning out of the cupola and hence is facing downwards so on a low base much of the detail is lost. I had a chat with Richard from Oakwood Studios and he has produced this plinth for me, which I’m quite excited about!.. I’ve positioned the figure and cupola on the plinth and it looks pretty imposing !

thats it for now!
Thanks

Very nice finish Jason. Think that plinth night adds to the overall display.:thumb2:

Fantastic work on the cupola Jason. The plinth is a great idea too.

Hi all
Hope everyone is well...
I’m calling this one just about done... a really quick finish for me as usually I seem to take forever to get something finished.
The high plinth proved essential in my eyes as otherwise all the detail was lost as the figure leans forward...0E6A567D-43F2-4936-90A1-A9D1F8D20830.jpeg

The highlights for me were the cuff title which I enjoyed and much more simply just the wires running from the headphones... The light here is a bit harsh so I will take some daylight pics tomorrow and post them.
Hope you approve and thanks for looking in,
Jason

Oh VERY nice !
Great work, on the cupola, the goggles and the cuff title especially.
AND the wristwatch!
It's such a shame about the cartoon villain grimace of the sculpt

Fantastic work Jason. One to be very proud of.
Thanks Peter... what's really amazing is that I've managed to finish something so quickly... a little over 3 weeks when I think the last bust I did took about 6 months... Just got more time on my hands these days I suppose!

Thanks Neil... I know what you mean about the comic book style but it makes a nice change from painting a bust which looks like he's a part time male model as seems to be the sculpt of a lot of things these days!

Thanks
Jason

I especially like this angle...cropped and it looks like a genuine backdrop (+garden hose).
