Wheels, exhaust, and prop are done ready for primer…

Just the IFF, Radio, and pitot sticking out bits, to go on, plus, of course, the canopies. I’ll mask the canopy before adding it because it’s easier to manipulate. The side door will be added after paint.

Talking of that, it the only part I’ve not been happy with.

Cropped a lot, so a bit blurry, but what a place to put ejection pins…….nightmare clean up coming up…..

Research did give me a bit of good news though. IFF is the later version, so no external wires from wings to fuselage, and the radio was VHF so there is no wire from the mast to the tail….result!

Looking good Tim. Shame about those ejector marks. I have at times removed the tin opener (crow bar) and the center ribs, removed the ejector marks and then re done the two ribs an the crow bar. (which should be BLACK :tongue-out2:)
Good to see you have also gone for the 'relaxed' control surfaces by the way.

Hi Ian. Cheers for the support. I think I can get those out pretty well, but we’ll see……I knew the crowbar wasn’t red, that’s a recent H and S feature, but actually thought it was unpainted….I’ll bow to your knowledge and go for black though.
Yep, relaxed controls alright. My story is that Brylcream Bob pushed the stick into the corner getting out after a sortie. He is a bit of a tightwad though, so put the flaps back up so he wasn’t fined a weeks wages :tongue-out3:

Hi Tim
Coming on nicely. Often awkwardly place ejector marks are annoying and need care and patience but can be sorted.
Jim
I know Jim. I‘m pretty good at careful, but I’m not known for my patience LOL….very strange that it’s the only part that exhibits this though.

Well that’s sorted out then…..

It was easier to clean out the middle and replace it than try to get the pin marks out. Not as clean as I’d like, but it may be better under paint. I improved the locking rod a little as well by drilling out and replacing with 0.3 mm pin brass wire. The crowbar could be better, but you try shaping slaters rod…it splinters like the devil ;)

Last up for now, stuck on the sticky out bits and used a little wrinkle that some of you might not have come across…..

Blue tack a couple of suitable balsa offcuts it’s on the bottom of the wings……

…and you can put the beastie down without fear of snapping them off….

Canopies and rear view mirror next, then primer I promise…..

.... definitely sorted. 100% improvement. The sticky out bits look to have gone on very well.
Jim
Cheers Jim. It’s got much more relief, even if it is a little woolly round the edges…..

Good work on the door. I used stretched sprue to make my crow bar with.

Nice tip with the balsa blocks by the way.
