Hi Guys
I built this a couple of years a go but thought I would post these photos to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the evacuation from Guernsey, days before the German occupation. It depicts a mother nd child going up the gangplank onto a ship while those not being evacuated look on. Each person was allowed to take one suitcase, and had about a day to decide whether to go or to stay.

My mother and grandmother were evacuate, my maternal grandfather was not able to get aboard the same ship and the Germans arrived be

Hi Peter
I remember this too. A stunning and poignant reminder of the Channel Isles suffering during the war.
