Been working a lot, so not much progress, did paint a figure for a change of pace, and I'm quite happy with him. Apologies for the picture quality.

Off to Russia tomorrow for a week of work, but then 10 days isolation on return, so should get some good progress in then.

Isolation on return? Does that mean you have to isolate in Russia as well?......that makes for a very lengthy trip, if that is the case. Have a good one and we'll see you when you bounce back. Rick H.

He looks good Jack…..
Thanks Tim.
I am totally 'entrainced' by this! Can't wait to see the finished result!

Ha! Thanks Steve.

No, thankfully not. I'm not sure there are many restrictions in Russia. Judging by the Russians I was working alongside a couple of weeks ago, it seems not. The hardest part of getting there is obtaining a Visa.

Course you can John. Although I will warn you, will be confined to rooms when not working, during my last visit, my room had bad BO, and apparently smoked 20 a day. Temperature due to be in the high 30s. There won't be much sight seeing!

Finally had a chance to look at this properly. All I can be say is what stunning job you've done so far.

Top notch modelling all round. It looks great now. Can only imagine what it will look like I've finished.....

Very well done indeed so far.

So survived Russia (although my luggage was 3 days behind me), but on landing home found out someone on our plane tested positive for Covid. So mid way through an isolation period. Positive is some modelling time.
The build is getting quite tricky...the thing is big and heavy, and I'm running out of places to safely pick it up by. All the PE detail is coming onto play as well, so little details are taking a long time. Also done some bits and pieces for the diorama, but I'll do a separate thread for those eventually. Here are some progress pics of the train.

found the best place to work on here was perched up on the drawers. Easier to thread the wires into the right places.

Hi Jack
Glad you're back. Shame about having to isolate but providing you don't test positive the extra bench time will be a nice bonus. The PE work looks very neat. Sure is a monster build.

Progress is seeming slow at the moment, but lot’s of PE detail to add that is much better than the kit offering. I did think my PE and soldering was improving, and then this ladder came along…I‘m not particularly happy with it, but think it will pass with some paint. Not completely fantasy that there may have been a lose step? I also don’t know If I can bring myself to make another for the opposite side however…

To break up the tedium of the PE, I have been painting the coal tender, and pretty pleased with the result so far. A couple of incidents where the airbrush decided to have a mini meltdown, but will add to/be covered up by the weathering.

Used Mr Surfacer 1000 Grey (much better coverage than Tamiya Fine Surface Primer), MRP Nato black for the pre-shade, and MRP Tank Grey for the main coat.

Thanks all.
A Glutton for punishment, and the kit ladder doesn't match up, even with my wonky soldering.

i think the second attempt is slightly better, and there was a little less swearing this time round.

It's turning into a bit of a planning headache now...trying to dryfit multiple sub assemblies, work out what I can glue, and what needs to be left off for painting.
