Thought I'd have a bash at some upcycling and truly hand at a brake disc clock.

Got some old discs off a 997 Turbo and currently cleaning up and spraying.

Idea will be one will sit upright with other as a stand, spot welded inside.

Hi, will look good when finished, only thought is what would it get used for, not a criticism just a thought.

Bit more time, prepped second disc and just welded. Weld isn't as pretty as I'd like but pleased it seems to be holding at least and hasn't cracked......

Hi James
A very unusual idea. One unique desk clock.

So I completed this and following a trip to the garage last month I asked for the old discs off my car to be put in the boot so I could use them for a "MkII clock".

Bit of a different take as I am cutting one disc into the other for more stability.
Also hoping that now I have a MIG/TIG setup the welding will be a bit tidier.

I have also removed the middle of the upright disc with the plasma cutter so the clock face will be bigger which will be stainless steel.

So welded discs today with the MIG and was surprised they didn't crack actually as I out a fair bit of heat in and decent length runs. Not come out too bad but now all cup brushed back, remasked and primed.

Top coat tomorrow!

James,
you'll have to have a sturdy table/shelf to support that!

So plasma cut face, cleaned up and transfer printed design onto it using design mirror printed off an ink jet printer, acetone and isopropanol.

Had to repaint hands to look like classic 80s Ford dial hands.

Pics not great but you get the idea.
