After the failure of the first ACW figure I was attempting as part of a trio, I've decided to abandon the joint thread and treat the other two as one-offs.

This is Verlinden's 120mm Union Zouave, wearing what I believe to be a fairly generic uniform rather than representing a particular regiment.

I've cleaned up the parts and part assembled them, ready for painting:

There were a couple of minor problems. The thin piping around the shoulders and at the back was damaged in several places, so I decided to remove it completely and will paint it on. I also damaged the belt buckle, so removed that and replaced it with a blank oval - again, I'll paint on the lettering. The hammer for the musket was cast separately but was so small that it shattered when I tried to get it off the casting block, so a replacement was made from spare Miniart parts.

There is also a nice base provided:

I also dug out a backpack and blanket roll from the spares box, which I may, or may not use.

Take a seat Steve. I've made this one before and didn't come across too many problems as I remember. The only thing to do is a better job than I did the last time!

Jim and Peter - Actually nice to have an action pose for a change - quite rare at this scale.

Morning Peter
Sorry to hear the 1st figure didn't pass muster.
This one certainly looks both bright and lively.
And a decent head?
Another nice day ahead
Enjoy the family and some painting?
Regards
Steve H cc

Si - Yes, here is a lot of red isn't there?

Steve - Well, it happens. The head on this one is great. Painting as much as possible to day as I'm going to be more on call to the baby tomorrow.

Many thanks for looking in and taking the time to comment chaps.

Richard, I've been interested in zouaves ever since coming across, and being intrigued by, Van Gogh's paintings of those he met in Arles:

An original French colonial zoauve of course, but a very similar uniform.

Nap - please don't look too closely next time!
