After a brief foray back into 1/16 figure territory I've decided to go back to busts for a while. This is Verlinden's 'Indian Chief' in 200mm. I believe that this is actually a portrait of Oglala Lakota Sioux chief, Red Cloud, one of the most photographed and therefore recognisable native Americans:

He's depicted wearing a 'war shirt' something that only the bravest warriors were entitled to:

The bust is presented as a one-piece casting (apart from the plinth). I was a bit annoyed that, since the feathers are cast with the head, the sculptor had left a whole load of fill to support them Removing it was tricky, and I inevitably broke one of the feathers . a bit lazy of Verlinden:

Anyway, onwards and upwards. All of that bead-work will be challenging....

This is going to be epic Peter. It really will be an explosion of colour. Looking forward to this a lot. Good luck sir.

Hi Steve. Yes, should be quite colourful.

However, I'm going to put this one back in the box for a while, as some exciting 1/5 busts have arrived that have really got me excited - see my Verlinden 1/15 Viking Bust thread.
