My lad gave me another figure to have a crack at.

I'm happy with how the candy chrome experiment went for the main armour, but some bits didn't turn out quite as I'd planned (scabbard in particular), but it's all good fun and great practice

Andy,
Lovely job, the good thing about these figures is you can let your imagination run wild.

Cheers Paul.

Yes, I can just play around with different things to see what happens. If it all goes pear shaped I can just strip it and start again :smiling3:

Looks great to me Andy. What didn’t you like about the scabbard?

Thanks Tim.

I was aiming for a kind of gradual fade from blue to purple. Looked great when it was wet but dried almost one colour.

Tricky to do with acrylics I know but I'll have another go tomorrow. Several layers of more transparent colour/ glaze I reckon.

I can just see the colour change when looking closely Andy. Probably right ref. more layers, red pigment is quite transparent. Might be worth a little edge highlighting to bring out the shape as well?

Thanks Chris, it was a bit of an experiment after seeing some pictures online.

Gloss black > Alclad chrome > Clear blue (AK acrylic)

Hi Andy
Although these are not my thing I do recognise how well it's painted. My son (40+years old) is really into this type of thing.

Thanks Jim.

Yes, it's much more my lads thing too, but I'm finding them really enjoyable.

My next marine Andy is a conversion, given him a bionic leg after seeing some pics in one of the GW codex books
