You could try giving depth to some of the chips by first painting on the colour underneath the top colour then in the centre of that putting the metal finish. E.g. if the scratch is on a green area first use dark yellow to simulate the base colour then use the steel or rust to show the scratch. does this make sense?

Cannot see anything wrong with that Bob. The problem is you are so close to your own work that you see every little detail.

I have the same problem. You just search out problems which are not there. Sometiems I think well that is not very good. Put it on
the shelf & it looks OK. Not searching the detail.

Chuck your Vallejo Gloss in the bin. Just tried Alclad 11 Laquer Aqua Gloss Clear & it is superb.

No Bob straight out of the bottle. It is very thin. I would have a little practice as it is different
to Vallejo. I put two coats on & got a great finish for decals.

Used a .35nozzle at 25 PSI.

You can get some nice dust effects by dry brushing with oils as well - just to confuse you even more
