Will the 1K plastic primer I use at work be OK for priming a plastic kit?

At work (Powder coating and painting) we use a 1K clear universal plastic primer for priming any plastic trim prior to putting on the basecoat. It's really just an adhesion promoter, but has anyone used a similar product for priming a plastic kit?

This particular product is U-POL System 20 1K plastic primer.

Hi george, i always use halfords grey primer , one of the best things about using a grey coloured one is it tends to show up any flaws or areas that need filling/further filling, so the clear primer you mention might not show these up as well. As for the suitability of it as an adhesion promoter its a case of trying it on a scrap piece of plastic to see if it reacts badly, if it doesnt then i dont see why you cant use it, hope this helps ,cheers tony

Thanks Tony,

I think I'll go with your advice and just use an ordinary grey plastic primer. This stuff was just handy and I thought I might try it but as you say, a grey primer might show up any blemishes a bit better.

Cheers,

George
