From one of our LHS pre-order from here is at RM2179 which is approximately £386. Where is Border models from if it's so much cheaper here? It will retail at normal price of £515 which is about RM2965.

Cheers,
Richard
Oops...at £525

The word is out that the U.K. RRP is £699.

That said some pre-order prices are a fair bit lower but with that RRP they probably won’t hold.

I have the dosh but do I really want to spend that much? I really don’t know.

I would certainly consider it between £500 and £600 but given that the HKM 1/32 Lanc can be picked up for £360 (which seems to be a bargain) and I have the 1/48 in the stash, do I really want to spend £700 even though it will knock the socks off the HKM for quality, is it worth double the price?

We shall see.
That's roughly my thinking except I already have the 1/32 HK kit with all the after market. For me £700 is just simply too much - £520 I'm considering.

Yep, a great deal. That’s about a years model spending and I just haven’t got the staying power for one build in a year. Pity they didn’t do it as a chastise Lanc really. That’s the true icon to me. Probably still wouldn’t buy it though ;)

I see that the RRP of £699.99 is now confirmed.
Too high.
That’s me out.
I’ll build the HK Models kit and see what can be made of that. The stand out difference is the oil canning effect on the surfaces. With some patience, putty and knife this can be replicated too. I have all the aftermarket needed for the HK kit as well. You can bet, despite how wonderful the new Border kit is, that there will be a plethora of aftermarket stuff to purchase at some stage down the line that could easy send the total cost up toward the £1000 mark depending on how crazy you want to be!
Oh well, it did look nice on the stand at Telford!!!!
Cheers

I still have two 1/48 Tamiya Lanc's not touched as I have no place to have them.... And at the asking price for this very nice looking kit, I think I will pass.

An "almost L" MS (almost because is 2 hrs drive from home) here in Italy is offering the Lanc on pre-order at 569€ (482,32 pounds) VAT included. The pre-order slot ends on Oct. 31st.
I'm not aware of UK custom taxes but if interested, please PM me to get the link to their homepage.
