Cupola's for Tamiya 1:35 Panthers

Hello, I've just bought two Tamiya 1:35 scale Panther Kits, the Fruhe version and the Late Version Panther with P/E zimmerit.

I have started to build these kits and noticed that Tamiya have excluded the periscopes for the Cupolas, so the Cupola's just have periscope holes and no periscopes. I've long since liked Tamiya kits but I can't beleive the've omited the periscopes out, this small detail has put me off the Tamiya kits now as i know Dragon kits put far more detail for the same cost as a Tamiya Kit.

I've now stopped the builds as I can't finish the turret with out this detail.

Does any one know where I can obtain either clear periscopes like the ones that come with the new Dragon kits or a Cupola with the periscopes.

cheers

Hey Skippy

You need to get hold of Fine molds periscope set for German AFVs Set 1.

Hope this helps

Incidentally I'm selling a great many kits very shortly one of which will be a Panther G with everything you need to build a show stopper: Fruil tracks, full etch, periscopes, metal barrels - the lot!

The Tamiya kits still build well and I wish you well with yours.

Cheers, Paul

By-the-way

It's my experience that Tamiya kits of this vintage go for under £30 whereas a Dragon Smart kit costs around £50. It's down to personal choice whether one prefers plastic moulded detail or to add aftermarket goods. Personally I prefer the latter as i feel the fine detail is better scaled, however i'm sure others reading this will feel differently.

Cheers

Well, I won't be buying the older Tamiya kits if I can get the same from Dragon.

I ended up buying these from ebay;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Armorscale-1-35-Commanders-Cupola-for-German-Tank-PzKpfw-V-Panther-A-G-R35-007-/111036771670?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item19da4ead56

Better detail, yes expensive for the money but I'm OCD when it comes to fine detail. I still can't believe Tamiya omitted this small detail from all their Panther kits, who knows how many other kits are missing the periscopes..
