Mick, do the exterior panel need to be built around the interior, or can they be put together and then the side windows and interior slid in from the bottom afterwards?

I'm lucky in that I can do that with my truck but obviously yours is a very different kit so it may not be possible.

LOOKIN good Mick these lorries look realy good when they are built an painted as there are a lot of guys up my Norwich pond that do the r/c lorries an drive them around the pond on the concrete foot path for the public to see but cor they are exspensive around 1500 quid with all the workins but cheap i suppoce compared to my tiger costs an im just toyin with the idea of doin something different an thats a R/C combine harvester to build it an make it all work but thats still in the pipeline as i need to find some drawings of how to build on an may ask the guys on here for help yes as i was thinkin of doin this before but could not get much info on them
keep up the good work Mick

Thanks Chris, I’ve been watching the r/c version that’s being built on here and in 1/14 it looks really good
Well Mick,
That dash reminds me of 'home', you need reading lights above the bunk on both sides as drivers would have a preferable way to sleep on the bunk. I used to prefer sleeping with my head behind the passenger seat, on the basis that if some clown decided to hit the truck it would be the drivers side that got the damage.
As for the main colour, try a silver undercoat to bring out the blue.
Mike
Thanks for looking in Mike, these modern tractor units are something else now, full auto, mod cons all over including microwave and coffee makers. Long distance need it though as it is your home.

Hi Andy, the instructions show the outer cab to be built up around the inner structure but I thought I’d try to assemble three sides and attach them. First attempt wasn’t a success as a dry fit due to the lack of positive mounting points but I will keep trying.

A minor anomaly in the destructions, easy to sort but strange non the less. I’m slowly working through a few sub assemblies one of which is the mirrors. In the instructions it shows them to be painted black, the inside painted silver and then a transparent piece fitted, well I’d already decided I was going to colour code them to the body colour. The kit comes with a sheet of mirror finish stickers including mirrors, their use doesn’t show until the colour plates for final painting and decals at the end, why waste silver paint

Drop a line to the manufacturer mdia or PR department and explain what you are planning to do and what you need. It would be good advertising for them if you did it in their colours.
COR cheers Mike yes that would be a good idea but i cant contact CLASS COMBINES as my P/C wont send out to somebody ive never emailed before as can only email when they have emailed me so its a catch 22 situaiton

Did a good few tests with the same paint. The base colour is of no, or very little consequence. I couldn't see any difference painted over a black or grey primer or silver or gold. It's a nice pear effect though.

Sounds. Like we are on the same page.
I glued the window in then the door cards. Then the doors glued to the rear or the cab. Next day when the glue was set up I could ease the part built outside, over the
Inside parts.

Mick,
Looking mighty fine mate. not sure how mirror like those stickers are but tin foil can be used as well and burnishes well to a high shine.
The stickers are crap mate so I'm using chrome paint. The first mirror had a domed surface and the sticker wouldn't lie down so plan B, thanks for looking in

I've been back on it today, the instructions for this stage are beyond vague so I'm now slowing right down and dry fitting then dry fitting followed by dry fitting. So many interlocking bits around the dashboard but i will get there.

Todays truck update. I've got the rear mud guards fitted after a bit of minor surgery to the rear cover, just got the Scania plates to fit.

Putting the outer shell on the cab really isn't fun and the instructions don't really help. There aren't any really good mounting points so I'm taking my time getting everything to line up. It will go together

how hard can it be to put 4 sides on a box?
Very hard. I am having similar difficulties. As fast as you get 3 sides taped the last side is off. You correct that and the whole thing is out of square. When you square things up a door moves out of true. Etc, etc, etc.
I'm sure you'll get there.

Thanks Jim, where would the fun be if everything was Tamiya style

This is where I got to last night, if I’m honest I was seriously thinking it’s bin day Thursday so they might get some extra weight in the bin and went to the pub. After a few beers I came home more positive and ready to go again

Mick nice updates. Sorry for your frustration I was never good at multi piece cabs.
Cheers Lee, pure frustration after getting some bits sorted including the etch and silver Scania sticker on the front grill, didn’t realise I was holding my breath until I suddenly gasped a breath in

Couldn't count the number of times I've found myself doing that. It seems involuntary, wonder why.
Totally agree Paul, must be an inbuilt defence mechanism
Good, good - glad it's sorted.
I've never decided whether modelling after a beer or two does actually enable a better result or whether the c***-*ps are less noticeable when viewed through an alcoholic haze
I just sat and looked at it Jim, and decided tomorrow is another day and slept on it
