As I trawl through various documents I came accross this report by Don Gentile of his battle with a couple of Fw190s.

I post it as first hand evidence as I think this "dogfight" was recently over dramatised and dragged out for thirty minutes in one of those distinctly average History Channel documentaries.I can't be sure as I lost the will to live at the first advert break!

These are online Ian. There are some very famous names in the list.

P-47 Encounter Reports

They are always a good read which makes seprating the wheat from the chaff a lot more fun than is often the case. They give a personal insight but it's important to remember just how young most of these guys were.

I counter balanced the fun this afternoon by scanning through a mind numbing document on the prevention of taxying accidents lol. The things you do when you've got a bad back!
