I'm working on Revell's 1/72 Jgadpanther, and the Alsace January 1944 paint scheme offered is the spotty "ambush" camo type. The base colour is shown as white, with spots of the sand/brown/green colours all over. That scheme seems to bear no resemblance to the box art, nor to any that I've Googled.

I realise that many were painted in the field, but does it sound right?

Also, with regard to weathering, how long did a German tank last in the field? Are all the heavily weathered tanks a true representation, or were most destroyed before they got really beaten up?
