So, I’m having another bash at a diorama now that I’ve got my inspiration back.

I don’t know exactly how it’s going to look when done (got a vague idea though) but it will have two vehicles, at least 6 figures and possibly some walls/buildings (if I can find the excellent tutorial on making Afghan buildings).

I may be asking for advice on some things as I encounter problems (which I’m sure I will) but I’m sure you’ll all be more than happy to share your wisdom!

The kits I’ll be using are below.

I’ve pretty much finished the Hummer, just need to give it another coat, tidy some bits and bobs and attach the driver side doors (they’re going to be left open).

I’ve started to put together the soldiers and insurgents but will probably leave the painting of these until the vehicles are finished.

I enjoyed putting the Hummer together, it was pretty basic but that was what I needed.

Anyway, I'll keep you all posted as I work on it.

Waiting for some paints to arrive just now so probably not much being done this week until they arrive.

So, it's been slow going but I've got my suicide bomber car almost built.

It needs another coat of white, a little bit of sanding and the roof is now on (but unpainted).

The figures are almost built now too. I'm putting them together while the paint dries so when I come to finally painnt them the glue wil be dry (had glue on paint brush issues before - wasn't good).

Anyway, here are some pics of the terrorist car.

I'm going to have to do some serious weathering with this and the hummer but I'll wait until the troops are painted before attempting that.

Taking shape nicely Drew.

I'm well chuffed you might be using my Afghan house build thread as a reference. That's what I like about this forum, we all muck in and try and help each other...

Cheers,

Well, finally got this finished today.

Seemed to take forever to get done but it's now complete.

I know there are a lot of improvements that could be made and that there are slight inaccuracies with the hummer (wrong wing mirrors, wouldn't have the front bull bars, etc). I also know that the US camo pattern is attrocious but I attempted the multi-cam pattern and, well, kinda failed.

I'm also wishing I'd ordered an airbrush before starting it because the brush strokes are very clear to me.

I had a bit of a nightmare with the "Wolf" I was using before so scrapped it and got another one, decided to paint it brown rather than white this time.

Although there is plenty wrong with it, I'm happy with it. I had fun with it and it's the first project I've completed since I was about 16!

Roll on the next one...

Feel free to comment on it because you can't be any more critical of it than I am :smiling3:

Sorry, forgot to give the back story to it.

Two suicide bombers in a car rigged to blow are being followed by US Marines but they chicken out and bail out of the car.

Not sure whether or not to blow the car or set off the bombs strapped to their chests they decide to attempt to make a run for it.

One trooper (at the front of the hummer) is aiming at the standing insurgent through the windows while the one at the back is about to take out the insurgent at the back.

I know that the "black standard" wouldn't be as obvious on the car as it is on this one (on the spare wheel cover) but I had to put it somewhere.
