Yeah, apparently one of the fastest @ 43 Knots or so with her trick outer rudders, utilising the Lürssen effect so that she could go faster with a smaller wake.
Beautiful work. Much more effective than US PTs as their torps actually worked.

what did the US have a lot of u/s torps then PaulE ?
They had very glitchy fuses, therefore many duds till mid 44 I think. The Japanese caught on quickly after many reports of torps banging into hulls w/no result. The PTs were very effective as littoral warships however w/many barges destroyed.

Hi ya all! Still recovering from a chest infection, so not too much happening with the Schnellboot, but I did tinker with the liferafts after seeing aftermarket versions which I am strictly trying to avoid.
So I decided to invest in some scale rope of various dia’s. This is my little extra detailing to add a bit more dimension to somewhat bland stock life rafts, using 0.5mm scale rope.
I must honestly say, this exceeded my expectations.
I also manage to paint the life rings (preservers)? Not sure what is the correct term, but anyway not terrible.
Does anyone have any images of how the anchor attached to the rope for the Schnellboots? I don’t like the way they are showing the rope on the front deck and a random anchor. That’s almost pointless, as if they are trying to fill the deck space…

Nice work Gavin. It’s the small details that build up the whole picture 
I have seen photos of the actual boat where the anchor is stowed just between the small square hatch & the bridge on the three points shown on the model, but w/o any chain or cable attached.

I'll try to find the photo as it seemed to be a kind of mix of the the two drawings you show. It had the single 2cm up front & a rear twin 2cm.

Life preservers are life-belts in Brit terminology mate! Garter belts were a universal term at that time though ... so I'm led to believe!

I have been procrastinating with the rails as they are numerous and fiddly.
Finally manage to filt them and the boat is edging towards completion.
Still the bridge, guns, ropes and flag to do and a spot of weathering.

Like Andrew I've missed some updates but caught up now. Excellent work on the life rafts and the rings. Rails are fiddly but looking good.

I haven't updated since the last charge for Telford 2022. I did manage to complete the model to a point, enough so that I could put it on the clubs table.

As promised, the build made it to Telford and took its place on our small table.
I decided the Schnellboot deserved a display case, so I purchased the biggest one Trumpeter had to offer. To my surprise this turned out to be quite a tight fit.
Anyways, she is now proudly sitting in her new display case, looking quite the business, even if I have to say so myself.

For my next project next project I am going to veer back into the realms of my late teens and early twenties, 1/35 modern AFV's.
Roll on the HEAVY METAL!!
