I think that the Harrier is a fantastic plane and its coming up to the 30th anniversary of the Falklands conflict thought i would build this

It's an OK kit and builds well, but watch out for the jet exhausts, they are two part and you get the seam right through the middle. Also the veins in them are rather thick, which helps as there is plenty of surplus material to sand the joint away with. If they are really naff, there are plenty of aftermarket resin ones in one piece. (worth the money to slip for the aggro).

A nice aircraft to build Ian.

Keep saying this about all I see here. That is another on the list. Getting longer than my wife's shopping list.

i do love the Harrier especially the sea harrier and the GR7s.+. Its a tragedy that they have been taken out of service. I thought they were good for another ten years.

Dont know if this will interest you but I think that the May edition of Flypast is running an 8 page special on the Falklands conflict. I havent got the mag yet so cant confirm but it is available from 1st April.

Thanks for the heads up on that Steve will take a look when it comes out
hi Ian. Just got the Flypast May issue. It has a * page special on the Falklands but I dont think there is anything in it that would be relavant to this build so dont break your neck trying to hunt a copy down.

Hello Ian,

Having just read a book about the RN's air war in the Falklands I fancied building one of these. But your close up pic's seem to suggest there isn't much detail to work with. Is that the case ?

Hi Colin Very little detail at all, well in need of some after market stuff for the cockpit, ( or full cockpit ) and it would be better with after market intakes and jet vents

Hi Ian

Great progress on the Sea Harrier. I completed a Hasegawa GR7 some time ago - the area around the engine intakes also required a little filler to get the joins right.

Looking forward to seeing the completed airframe with the rescribed lines.

All the best

Paul
