Heres my latest, and I think one of my favourite builds. The Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation CA13 Boomerang. This stubby little fighter was the first australian designed fighter and although not very successful in its intended role found its true strength in the close support of ground troops. This example Q-EA served with no 4 squadron in Borneo at Labuan airstrip , a muddy airfield that claimed more than a few aircraft in landing accidents, this particular aircraft being written off on landing on the 29 july 1945. See here for a pic of the actual aircraft 4 Squadron RAAF Boomerangs . Comments ,criticisms welcome , thanks for looking , cheers tony

Wey hey man!

Thats a little cracker that Tony. A curious looking bird but not unattractive. You know what I mean!

I love the base as well. Simple and effective, shows the aircraft off and not distracts from it!

Well Tony what a cracking build the paint job and cockpit are fantastic, and the muddy airstrip/runway base sets it off a treat well worth 5 stars

Brilliant Tony, a beautiful little plane. A definite 5 star build.

Glad you did the Donald Duck scheme. The duck flies again.

Tony.

A muddy airfield, that second picture looks more like a silted up pond. And what a place to put those exhasuts, I bet 'Bruce' used a few choice words more than once climbing out of his plane. But anyway, an old 1:72 airfix transformed into this, superb job. And of course the base. It looks wet in places, nice trick. 5*

Hi Tony, looks like a little chunky plane that could absorb a lot of punishment. Finished to your usual 5 star finish. Cheers Derek

Wonderful Boomerang there Tony. Watching this little kit come together with all that extra detail and attention has been educational and amazing. I like the base and setting, not too much mud or dirt. Did you finish the underside in the same bronze green colour instead of the Airfix prescribed light colour?

Thanks for the comments guys , Joe I actually painted the underneath in the airfix recommended sky blue ,then just as I was about ready for the top colour I found the pics on the link of this aircraft. The pictures , although black and white, clearly show the undersides of the various 4 sqn aircraft in the same shade as the top colour, so I went with all over foliage green. Maybe it did have a sky underside at some point earlier in its life (and airfix were not wrong)but I wanted to do it as the photo. cheers tony

Makes sense to me as the Boomerangs were used for low level ground support duties later in their careers.
