Here is a 1959 issue kit of my airfix Short sunderlandView attachment 22797 Flyingboat series1 I had this kit for years she is one of my first airfix kits that ever built and the first to my airfix collection. Airfix has View attachment 22796always been my favorite model manufacture at the tender age of 70 in my book still Number 1. here is a couple pictures of her i built her in 1962.View attachment 22795

I'm with you as an Airfix fan Franklyn, they played a big part of my modelling development as a youngster and I'm still very fond of them.

The Sunderland looks amazing for a 1959 model and has obviously been very well put together with the materials available at that time. You certainly have a piece of history there in more ways than one!

Thank you once more again for your war and wonderfull reply on Short sunderland flyingboat. I been iventured in to atleast 5 hobby shops on my area they dont even stock any airfix kits nothing but releases of Revell and Monogram and lindberg kits, also a vast upriseing of Trumpeter kits. I guess I am going to have find a mail order house that stock these kits , By 1963 Airfix hit the hobby shops of america Frogg and Airline kits too, they were very cheap in price back in those good old days. like most plastic use to be as well. Now Days $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I hate to start a collection all over again at these skyrocketing prices you be bankrupped in no time. thank you again dear sir

nice old kit ,I got to walk thru the real one here at Lakeland in Kermit Weeks collection. Nice to see the old kits posted up thanks for taking the time to share them

The model can still be built into a nice model, I have one on the go

at present.

Kermit Weeks aircraft is now actually a Sandringham (civilianized version

of Sunderland), however Kermits aircraft has a Kiwi connection in that

it was an RNZAF (Royal New Zealand Air Force) Sunderland, sold

to an Australian company in the early 1960's, and converted.

Her one remaining sister Sunderland now resides at MOTAT (museum)
