And here is my second build. This time with lights. I want to try and include lighting with all my kits if I can as I think it adds a lot to the finished build.

Found working with fibre optics very fiddly though, so wasn't able to include as many lights in the cockpit as I had wanted to. A small space to work with trying to get the LEDs to fit in.

Did try my hand at weathering though. Wash and dry brushing.

My next build will be sticking with Battlestar Galactica, this time a Cylon Raider.

Thanks for the kind comment. There is a white led in each thruster. A flashing red led with fibre optics going to the tips of the wings. Green led for main cockpit light. Red and yellow led with fibre optics for the lit buttons in the cockpit. Not much space for all this though.

The battery is in the base with the switch on the side of the base.

I'm stunned, that is absolutely brilliant. The cockpit is fantastic and the engines are simply amazing. With some subtle weathering this has produced an amazing model that I can't believe is only your second since returning to modelling.

I remember building the original one of these when the cockpit was blanked out but this is a whole new deal. Who makes this kit?

Excellent work Rob. I do like the lighting, it certainly makes for a dramatic model and the paint work looks superb although it's a little difficult to make out because of the ambient lighting. Perhaps a few shots in daylight?

Anyway, it's a fabulous job and I for one look forward to more Sci Fi kits from your good self.

Cheers, Paul

Thanks for your kind comment. The last model I built must have been DS9 space station in my late teens. Also made the millennium falcon. The were brush painted whereas I'm now using an airbrush for the first time. My ultimate build will be the polar lights enterprise 350 scale. Want to get a lot more practice before I try that one though.

Thanks. I had never done it before. It was a bit fiddley, especially the fibre optics. You should give it a try.

I like this. The lighting really sets it off beautifully.
