Cheers Si. I use Winsor and Newton Galleria for both gloss and matt varnish.
Moved on a bit more this week. As I think I mentioned previously I'm trying to keep the weathering light and subtle, so no chipping or rust, but some rain and dirt streaks.
Also installed the tools, spare tracks, air filters, ammo racks and seats.
Bob, In my mind it looks just right if you are going for the faded and weathered look. Otherwise you might think about a little darker shading of green.
Just my thoughts. Cheers, Rick H.
I'm going to try and vary the shades of khaki drab between the figures. In fact it's not very obvious but the shirt on this one is a slightly darker shade than the trousers.
I'm basing the figures on the uniforms in MASH which always seemed to be quite faded and worn.
What I'm more interested in trying to achieve is getting the darker tones in the creases first rather than apply a darker wash after the top coat as I have done in the past.
Hello Bob,
Catch up time again. I like the weathering, nice and subtle and that makes a change from tons of chipping. Figures, can i suggest you put on the main coat first and then work in the shadows with a darker thinner mix, and build up the shadow and the same with the highlights except using a lighter shade. There are figure painters on this forum that can explain it better than me. But still pleased with your build, very impressive.
Mike.
