Hi all and thanks for the nice comments.

Here's a small update,

Did some work on the base, i used some different sizes of sand to put on the bottom of the moat, and started to create the side wall security with some stones (pictures of that will follow)

The cork tiles for the stonework seem to have the edges rounded. This, in my opinion, makes them much more realistic. There's not much in nature that has sharp edges.

Yes Steve after cutting the cork I sanded all the edges of the stones to make it appear more realistic.

That's amazing stuff so far Richi! Are you going to be filling the gaps between your cork 'stones'? If so, how will you do it without getting fill material all over the surface of the cork?

Thanks Dave,

i want to try to fill the gaps but as you are pointing out the cork would be filled to, need to figure out that one, maybe i will fill the gaps with acrylic paint and micro balloons let it set for a minute and then try and wash the surface of the cork.

but i will try that after i put a base coat on it.

Any other ideas are welcome.

The only thing I can think of is to use a good layer of thin cement spread all over the base (perhaps suitably coloured with paint). If it's thin enough it should squish up between the pieces as you push them in place. Even as I'm typing this, I realise it's a bit late as you've got lots of pieces already glued down ......

Or maybe you could use some sort of syringe to inject very thin filler into the gaps - but that sounds really fiddly and hard to control.
