Dear Mr. Smiff,
So happy to see you back in your comfort zone with this. I'm nobody, but I believe you are supposed to start your own thread for Dave's Halftrack GB and not post it in his chat thread. Just saying my friend.....

He can't help it Dude 1, it's probably due to working in the depths of the country side on his own.It makes him feel better to join in a chat thread .

Like Allen said, it keeps things tidier if we all have a separate thread for our builds. Not to worry though, at least you're off and running! P'raps you could start a thread for the rest of the build, or ask one of the mods - nicely - if they could move this one?

PS Welcome aboard!

Yep,
Just got carried away and forgot to open a separate thread!
If one of you kind mods could put this in a thread entitled "Andy's M3 A2 Half-track" it would be greatly appreciated :smiling3:

Just saw this on Missing-Lynx, maybe for anyone who feels like more of a challenge for this group build:

Finnish half-tracks 1949.jpg

These are American M2 or M3 halftracks (it’s very hard to tell) that have had the cab cut down and the rear compartment removed and replaced by a lorry-style load bed. The louvres over the radiators are also gone and replaced by some simple bars and additional cooling air vents have been added to the sides of the bonnet.

If you think the troops are wearing German helmets and the guns are German too, then you would be right, because these are Finnish vehicles (and troops and guns) in 1949. I’m guessing the got the vehicles from the USSR, or maybe bought on the international surplus market?

Thats the one. Build is quite simple just a Bedford GS30 and a Universal carrier for the running gear. The one I did got a tiny bit crushed in a house move. It was one of a pair I also did the Bedford Articulated/5wheel truck. Died at the same time as the half track.
