Do we have any 16mm/ft railway modellers on here?

I've joined a couple of 16mm garden railway user groups on Yahoo since getting more interested in scratch building my own stock, just wondered if there where any 16mm'ers on these forums! There's always a lot of crossover between different specialisms when it comes to scale models and this is why this forum is so good - it covers all kinds of modelling. Was a bit reluctant on joining other more specialised forums as there isn't the number of contributions and helpful responses you get on here!

Feel a bit awkward asking questions about narrow gauge modelling as it's such a maligned area of railway modelling!

:shhhh:

Sorry mate I do my track is the next size up but I do not stick to scale trains any thing that fits on the track we will run with foresight we should have gone with 16mill but we got G gauge

I dont even know how I got started with it as I have never had anything to do with trains at all but over the past few years a garden railway has gone down the nice thing about it is the diverse subjects from trains to buildings and rolling stock to props ie clutter around the railway

My main gripes are at open days it seems to be a compatition to brag on how much they have spent which is a game I cann't play or that train would have 3 more rivets than that

Regards Tony

I think Railway modelling is something which creeps up on "Men of a Certain Age" - I've never had any interest in Railway Modelling and then suddenly fancied building a little loco since my dad began constructing a garden railway! Now I'm hooked on it and trying to find plans to scratchbuild locos and rolling stock for some reason! Now I'm buying books trawling the net for drawings and trying to track down back issues of magazines for research too!
