Or this could happen!!

How do all, been working on this build for a good few weeks now but it wasn't going to look like this when I started it. This build kind of evolved, I was going for a desert scene, lots of sand, the QL up to it's back axle in sand with someone digging it out and the Jeep along side. But something happened (fingers not working lol) and I dropped the Jeep, one of it's wheels fell off and as I rolled back on my chair it got caught and broke part of the tyre off, so it was going to be the Jeep axle deep in sand. I didn't have a big enough polystyrene block for the base so had to have it rolling off to somewhere, then it hit me! I had a tub of scenic water sat on the bench for about a year doing nothing, so had to build a funny dio.

The Bedford QL with 6 pdr and Jeep are from Italeri and not to bad to build, still have problems but nothing to worry about with a bit of clean up. The tarpaulin top was the pain of this build lol, made it with milliput then put in placed to harden off. That's when I couldn't get it off the back because it stuck on the bars, so it got painted in place. Had a right job trying to get the airbrush under it lol.

Man o man John that just looks real. Going for a couple of Landrovers & will have the cheek to copy your technique (at least some of it if I can).

Like the picture frame very clever.

And that brand new pail a classic. Where did that come from ?

A brilliant portrayal.

I think the guy sitting in the QL pinched it Laurie lol, to be honest though I found it in the spares box so if I remember what set I got it in i'll let you know. I did like how this build came about, I must do it in future and see what I come up with lol. But I must remember to keep the time lines right, a Challenger 1 and a Sherman in the dio won't look right (unless it at Bovington, mmmmm light bulb moment).

Thanks guys, very much appreciated.

Have fun, John

Hi John

this is a cracking diorama. The vehicles are great but I it's the figures that really caught my eye, they have real character and fit the scene perfectly. Real quality stuff.

cheers

Thanks fellas, love it when things "fall" into place like this build. The figures Paul is a mix of about three sets mate, was going to have them all in one dio but the way it evolved it just needed these four chaps.

Laurie, found out the set for the bucket, it's the Jerry cans set from Tamiya, Tamiya 1/35 Jerry Cans # 35026

Have fun, John

That's pretty damn brilliant, and I love the sheepish look on the bearded jeep drivers face.

5 stars no doubt.

Nice one, John, I like it.

Especially the bloke holding the sign who seems to find it very funny, typical Squaddie.

Sorry I missed this one.

What a great little scene. I too love the bearded comic who is obviously finding the whole episode very amusing.

Very well done indeed John. Five well deserved stars from me!

Thanks Ian, yes, he's the one that put the Jeep in the river lol. Think he's been in the desert too long and forgot what roads are.

Have fun, John

PS, my head is down building my next build. It's British and I think Malc is going to love it...........
