Hey guys. here's my completed me109 from Hasegawa. I haven't been posting lately as we moved a couple months ago and basically have been working on the house non-stop, and my wife is actually due today with our son, so I haven't had much time to spend modelling...

i felt a little rusty but was pretty happy with how the 109 came out. the sprial decal on the nose was one of the most frustrating things i've ever done modeling. i think that itself took at least 5 minutes of moving/applying solution/patting/moving/applying solution/cursing the gods...

i'll probably be even less active than i've been lately with 2 little ones soon to occupy my time. but i will post some pics up of the little guy once he decides to join us.

hope you like.

That looks like Hasegawa's 1/48 kit of Bartel's famous aircraft.

Very nicely done......you can never have too many Bf 109s :smiling3:

Very nice Jim. Just got it done in time before it is nappy time.

Yes those nose cones are the devil. As Churchill said "It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key".

Thanks guys. Dave, it is hasegawa's 1/48 kit. It was the secondary plane on the instructions (not pictured on the box), and I'm not sure who's aircraft it is off the top of my head.

Thanks for the compliments. This is actually my first 109. I'd love to do a 1/32 kit. We're getting the new basement finished soon and I'm getting a dedicated model room and a new glass display case built so I'll have plenty of display space soon. Very excited.

Ofw. Heinrich Bartels.

It's always good to put a face to a name.

And here, again with the aircraft you modelled.

He was killed on 23rd December 1944 after combat with P-47s from the 56th FG USAAF near Bonn. It is not possible to say for sure who shot him down. He is credited with 99 victories.

Cheers

Thanks guys. That's good stuff Steve. I normally try and look up references for the models I do but I didn't even have time for that! Very cool pics and info.

He flew with the identification number (kennziffer) 13. He was killed in a Bf 109 G-10 "Yellow 13". It was actually quite a popular choice with some successful pilots.

Here's a well known shot of your aircraft in flight (I think over Greece)

Cheers

Hi jim

Great looking 109! The spinner spiral does look tricky as it's one of the finer, thinner examples - but it looks fantastic on the model.

All together this is a lovely looking model.

Nice work
