Heres one some of you might remember me mentioning a while back., the tamiya 1/48 mosquito fb VI/NF II. I picked this beauty up at the car boot sale for an unbelievable 50p! the kit was complete but the props and spinners had been painted and two of the engine nacelles had been glued, apart from that it was untouched,i couldnt believe my luck! This is (believe it or not) my first ever tamiya aircraft build and i wasnt disappointed, the kit is superb! The only additions to the build are some etched seat harnesses,a few wires in the cockpit and the brake lines, makes a change from having to scratchbuild everything. I finished the kit as the NF II nightfighter version , using various shades of black/ grey to give the uniform finish a bit of life. The colour variation doesnt really show in the pics , have a look see what you reckon, all comment /criticisms welcome, cheers tony

Looks good Tony.Ive got the Monogram version in my stash. This Tamiya kit is probably the best kit of the Mossie you can get for sensible money. Is the crew entry door a seperate part or did you cut it out of the fuselage?.

Cheers dave, i reckon its the best 1/48 mossie bar none, it would have been well worth the proper price of £25 never mind 50p!! The crew entry door is supplied seperate as is the cover panel over the machine guns in the nose, i fixed this temporarily with blu tack but after spraying decided to leave it closed as i preferred the clean lines. cheers tony

Hi Tony

Fantastic work. I love the cockpit and undercarriage detail and unbelievable value at 50p.

Brilliant!

That's a smasher Tony. I have to say it's a bit unusual for you though. Most of your airplanes have that 'just out of the showroom' immaculate look. On this one, you've let the crew scratch it and get it dirty! :lol

Very impressive Tony, i think the black suits this aircraft better than the standard camo, well worth the 50p or in Treys case 80 cents:thumbsup:

Thanks everyone for your comments , Dave if you want to see something really dirty ,look in my gallery (oo er missus!!!) at the 1/32 mig 3 ,an aircraft you can really go to town on the weathering and get away with it !cheers tony

I only just saw this for some reason. Top job on a great airplane. Nice subtle bit of wear and tear on it as well. 50p you say? It's enough to make a man go to car boot sales.

Cheers

Steve

Hi steve, working on a bank holiday !?,bad luck. Thanks for the comment, i was going to get a few pics done outside today alongside the dh88 comet, sort of an evolutionary comparison but the bank holiday weather has put paid to that , its chucking it down!!!! cheers tony

Where did this one come from, last I noticed it was a Whirlwind being built - this clearly says more about me than it does you ! Anyway, brilliant example you've created here of a brilliant aircraft. Well done.

Regards

Thanks guys, colin the mossie was running in parallel with the whirlwind but i didnt think it was worth doing a construction thread as i wasnt really doing anything to it apart from building it out of the box (except for the pe belts of course) The whirlwind is on hold till i get back off holiday, so no more updates for 2 weeks. Meanwhile heres a couple more pics taken in the sunshine this morn with the boarding ladder (unbelievably fragile , i broke it about 8 times!!) cheers tony

I'm with Colin on this one Tony, you sneaked it in. Good to know the Whirlwind is on hold and not in the bin. Very nice mossie mate, love it.

Have fun, John
