Well I am really enjoying learning all about the planes of the Luftwaffe and making these models. Have come to really like the 1:72 scale planes. This one is a very nice kit indeed with nice clean sections and lots of lovely details. The Canopy on this one is my main concern so I have taken extra care with it. Got my self some humbrol clear fix to put it together and also got hold of some future and have dipped the canopy parts in it to give it a nice clean shine, very impressed by the way it does that.

Took ages to mask the canopy but I think its going to come out ok. Any way here are my first set of pics.

Looks good Mark. A lot of masking there.
Yes, it took some time but it's fun to do and good practise. I want to try a wash with this one as well, having yet to try one. Any way, painting will take place tomorrow morning. This model making has really taken over my other hobby of astrophotography now I will have to build a big shelf for all of them to sit on.

Well despite being so careful disaster struck as I was gluing the sliding door section on and it slipped putting glue all over the inside AAARGH! I tryed to clean it up but it just got worse and worse until it went in the bin. So I had to find a way of making a replacement sliding door.

I cut a new door from a plastic lemonade bottle and it has done a fairly reasonable job at sorting that one out but it really bugs me after taking so long to get everthing else right and making one stupid slip up. I guess I could order the part from Revel but what do you think will it be ok..First one was a bit raw so repainted and dry brushed on the second pic along and added some future to it fairly happy with it now..

I think your sliding door looks good.I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't said anything.

Thanks for that chaps the door looks pretty good now and I have finished off everthing today. My fourth German plane to add to my collection. Using future floor wax and Humbrol clearfix helped a lot with the canopy and windows. I really like this one just sitting here with my cup of tea gazing lovingly at my planes. Going to have a break for a while now its been a crazy intense amount of building the last few weeks but its been great fun. I think my next build will have to be a bigger scale model of another German plane though. Funny thought I would be making American planes more but these ww2 German planes have really got to me.

Any way here is my finished Heinkel 111

Very nicely done Mark.

Dare I say you've still got plenty to do before you complete the Luftwaffe's inventory :smiling3:

Cheers
