Hello Guys,

Here is my entry to the GB :smiling4:

I have been waiting for some replacement decals as I wasn’t too excited by the included scheme.

These arrived today.

And this is the scheme I’ll be going for, an aircraft from No.82 squadron.

Here’s what’s in the box.

Clear parts.

Looks nice, similar if not identical to its bigger brother in 1/48.

I’ll hopefully be able to start it soon.

Thanks for looking :thumb2:

Geoff.

Hi Geoff,

Looking forward to seeing this come together. I have this very one in the stash but will be doing one of its stablemates for the GB. So far I think our two are the only 1/72 Tamiya offerings for this GB, although I may be wrong!

As for being identical to it's big brother, that is basically what it is apparently. According to a number of reviews I have read online all of these 1/72 kits were pantographed down from there 1/48 cousins.

Good luck.

Andrew

Meh, A look at the sprue photos through this GB it is quite apparent that they are quite different.
But it does look a well detailed little kit.

Great looking kit Geoff!!! Can't wait to see her come together. Dang, you have better detail on your pit walls than my 1/48 and Pete's 1/32 Mossies combined............

Hi Geoff
Nice looking kit. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the 1/72 Airfix kit Mike and I are building. Your choice has a silver finish as has mine. Have you given any thought yet as to which metallic paint you'll be using?

Thanks Ian, it looks nice.

I thought it was a scaled down version too, to be honest.

Cheers Jim. I’ve got some Hataka and Vallejo silver which I might use.
I don’t want anything to look too metallic.

Geoff.

Hello guys,

With my Spitfire build near completion I’ve finally had time to start getting my teeth into the build.

Unusually the instructions call for several steps to be completed before work starts on the cockpit however I decided to get on with the cockpit as this is usually the most time consuming.

It’s quite a detailed “office” with decals supplied for the seat belts and instrument panel.

However I thought I would give it a bit of an upgrade with some photo etch parts.

ADF44A42-B0C3-46E0-AD68-0D39EC99644E.jpeg

I built up the cockpit adding several pe parts to the cockpit including seat belts and gave it an all over coat of Vallejo model air 71.305 interior grey/green.
I decided to go with the kit supplied instrument panel as I don’t think much will be seen once it’s all buttoned up.

The small parts were all picked out by brush and it is now ready to be sandwiched between the fuselage halves.

I’m pleased with how it’s going so far.

Another update soon, thanks for looking :thumb2:

Geoff.
