Like most boys, I started modelling plastic kits many moons a ago. I can remember buying balsa wood plane kits when the wings were covered in tissue paper and sealed with dope. The smell was wonderful. Anyway, now that I am much older, I started modelling again during lock down. I had a partially made Tamiya 1/12 Renault RE20. Stropped it back and started again (not a good idea) However, it didn't look too bad. Now I have started the Tamiya 1/12 Williams FW14b. I had one kit from about 20 years ago and recently brought another from ebay, making a good one from the 2. I have also brought upgrade kits from Top Studio. I have also have another RE 20 and 2 Lotus 49's. Roll on the winter!

Richard,
welcome to the forum! Love the Renault! These F1 models certainly build up to fine showpieces - The only ones I've made recently have been 1/24 - the 1/12 versions a little too much for me - although I've been flirting with 1/24 track cars, as well. You'll find loads of like minded modellers here, but not just cars - all genres!

Richard,
A most warm welcome from me.
I am a wingy-thing nut myself so have to be a bit thick here and ask what physical size the Renault is?
It certainly looks the business.
Can I ask what you use for the metallics (esp the the chrome)? (They are impressive :thumb2:)
Kind Regards,
John

Hi John. Its 16 inches long, 7 inches wide and 3 inches high. The chrome looks good because this is how it comes in the box, all you do is stick a few decals on it. I hope this helps. Richard

Welcome Richard, Well remember the Tamiya 1/12 scale F1 cars running for about £12 a time.... Did build the Graham Hill Lotus as wellas a couple of others - pity they were for a local model shop and not my shelf.
Mike.
