well this very big nasty old girl has been looking at me for some time,

so just had to start her,

had all the lower hull, done yesterday, and today the upper hull, and so meany little bits and bobs over her, which took hrs to get on,so then undercoated,

off to Nic,s for a chat with the lads for a bit well a few hrs, :smiling3:

come home and did the base coat of German yellow, then the two camo colors, all freehand,

a couple of little slips and a little splatter,no biggie,as there were camo, in the field,by what ever means there was,

did a little looking up on this one,as I do with all build,as there were only 88 made, some that

had the zimmerit, they found were in a training camp so I did leave it off,[ well did not have it in the first place, ]

well hope you like the progress so far,

as I did real enjoy this build, next time will look for the Tamiya kit, ;)

do like the boxart as you see the two chaps working on the tracks,as with these, had a problem, with the second track, horn, and they needed to be cut off as they did interfere with the suspension,:rolleyes:

Aarrggh! You've hit my 'German tanks painted in the field' button Monica! All Jagdtigers were painted in the factory!!

In fact, all 11 of the Porsche suspension version were painted in Dunkelgelb, had zimmerit (except for the prototype). Those vehicles that were sent to the front from their training units were repainted in the late war colours of olive green & chocolate brown.

The problem wasn't the track guide horns, but using the King Tiger 9 tooth drive wheel. This caused an uneven ride & misaligned the gun calibration.

Having said all that, I'm still enjoying watching your build!

And to anyone who thinks I take this stuff too seriously... I can't help it!

Nice looking kit Monica. I was looking at a King Tiger, Porche turret, kit at the weekend but didn't get it because it came with the narrow transport tracks. How shallow am I? :smiling3:

It is the Academy - German King Tiger "Last Production" kit number 13229. Apparently it has the transport track not the wider operational tracks. However, apparently it was not unknown for them to run on these tracks as there were not enough wide tracks to go around at the end. Not sure if that is true or not.

ta Graham,I do real like the detail with the Dragon, kit, but the tracks being in 5 bits with 3 little pins in each which lay left to right,is sure

hard work,

were I do know that the Tamiya kit has serpent tracks and link and length track, which I like the idea of,as Patrick said, that maybe not

right to use but could use the king tiger tracks, which I do think I,will do, ;)

You're right Graham, a number of very late King Tigers had the narrower transport tracks. That Academy kit isn't bad, although strictly speaking it's lacking a few details to be a 'final production' version, not least the extra spare track hangers on the turret.

But it does come with Octopus camo decals :smiling3: that's one scheme I've always wanted to do.

Anyway, back to Monica's JT thread ;)

I feel your pain Monica! The 2nd armour kit I ever built was the Premium edition of this kit, the one with the aluminium barrel & pe included.

But the tracks seemed just too much like hard work.... so I cheated :smiling3:

IMG_20140306_020744.jpg

I left off the fiddly bits & covered the tracks in snow! Shhh! It's our secret ;)

Of course I wouldn't mind! They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ;)

The pins go on the inside as I recall - even after 7 years they're still etched in my mind! clear.png

update for today, spent a few hrs doing these, most times I do remove them

to paint them, but with a tiger pattern track, its a bit hard to get them off and back on without braking

them so I will let them set for a day or so before painting,

well hope your liking this so far, ;)
