As far as i'm concerned thats in the past, enjoy the forum... it's one of a kind and there's a plethora of knowledge on here that is able to be accessed ...\ said:Thanks for the comments guys and again apologies for getting off on the wrong foot!
As do i, this is the best bit of the hobby for me ..... it make each model even more unique than just each persons differing ways of building and painting similar models.\ said:the traditional way of making things, scratch built from materials, I love making things from scratch.
We can work with STL, IGES and Step files best and also Solid works files\ said:What are the preferred formats for data for most 3d printers these days...Ian M
Figures are really a nice thing to 3D print, we have done a few and they are so cool, its just learning how to build and produce the file. We are going to build a tank soon, cant wait to see how it turns out\ said:Most of the big boys, Dragon, trumpeter, etc, make their prototypes in CAD these days and by carefully leaking out the CAD renders into various fora, get loads of feed back on how it can be improved, before they get started on moulds/tools.A 3D print costs peanuts compared to the cost of an injection tool.
My biggest interest in 3D printing, would have to be figures, Mechanical things can be built up of card and rod plastic stock, but sculpting a figure is way beyond me. Give me a program to make 3D computer models of figures and I have no worries.
Having said that I can also find my way around studiomax quite well.....Hmm.
