Hey guys, Wanted to do a WIP build because i selfishly might need help :smiling3:

Its already built, i actually got carried away with myself and built it so fast it was done before i could even make a second cup of coffee.

The plan is to get the paint flaking off at parts but keep the overall weathering to a dusty sand with extreme localized rusting.

Here is what i have atm. No base coat just some hand brushed "rust" color over the parts where id expect paint to peel off then chipped it with maskall which ill paint over.

Ill take it outside now and try airbrushing for the first time and get pics in an hour or so.

Ok done painting for today, i need more practice with the airbrush i think, doing it in the garage with the main door open and wind ect coming in doesn't help.

The bubbles are the maskall underneath.

That's the maskall off, looks rather flaky, i think it looks awesome, what you guys think? too much? too little?

Ill get the tools and wheels painted tonight so i can get those fired on tomorrow, Does anyone know if there's a "tool" that makes it easier to paint wheels? even with a steady hand i end up getting paint all over the place hahaha.

I'm sure i seen something in a video that covered the rubber so you could get a nice crisp paintjob.....

this is looking real good so far,

I do real like how the paint has peeled and curled up,looks great,

the trick is to keep that look, maybe coat it a couple of times with a mat clear to hold it, ;)

Well that's the tools on, didn't airbrush them when i was doing the hull and wheels so there clamps are the wrong color and i missed one on the pickaxe head before i glued it on, ill go back and do it but until then just forget you saw it :P

Next up, decals and wheels, then a light wash, sand wash, brown wash over the paint flakes and then finally rust over the brown. Washes need a day to fully dry so updates will slow down after the decals.

Decals are on, other parts painted. Just need to put the wheels on, give it a wash or two and some track scrapes then go from there.

Also added two fire extinguishers and two extra fuel cans on the back stowage shelf. Quite frankly i didn't think 6 default cans were enough ROFL

Wheels on, tracks scraped, light grey wash and a light sand wash, however the sand one didn't make a difference...

Going to throw some brown onto the exposed metal and let that sit for an hour or so before working it. Then let it dry for a day and then add rust. Should let that sit for a while before giving it the once over with a brush but after that, pigments! maybe even some wax for clumpy mud and sand...

There's dirt and mud in deserts aren't there? Like after it rains depending on the desert...

Lovely lovely brown wash... looks almost majestic.

The amount of paint flake has gone down so its less mad but still flaky enough to look real.

Well after the first wash i let it dry and added a second layer of brown wash that i could work without removing the under layer.

There is a definite sense of over rusting going on however it will tone down with pigment and i was looking for some aggressive rusty look, Whats your thoughts?

Up next tho actual orange rust! :D

That's the washes finished with, just pigment and maybe some mud or whatever to add more realism. But i'm busy with this new fanged "outside world"? now so it will be on hold for a few days :smiling3:

Any info you can give me on how to improve now is the time, once the pigments go on its sort of un-editable lol

Cheers gavin, Dont think its overkill on the rust?
It's all in the eyes of the beholder....

You are your own biggest critic! ;)

One can "nit pic" if you feel so inclined to do so, but overall... I like it! :smiling3:
